Disney Cruise Line 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise

Hier 'n (Engelstalig) overzicht van de cruise die wij gaan doen in april/mei 2011.

A Disney Cruise Line 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise charts a course for high-seas adventure and unforgettable fun in Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay, with 2 fun-filled days at sea in between on the grand decks of the Disney Magic.

Day 1 – Embarkation Day

Set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida on Saturday and journey south through the translucent blue waters of the Caribbean into the heart of the Bahamas. Once onboard, join in the Adventures Away! Sail-Away Celebration, where you can dance along with Disney Characters and Crew Members. Then, explore the ship and discover the many exciting onboard venues.

Day 2

Sunday finds you arriving in either Key West, Florida or Castaway Cay, Disney's private island paradise, depending on itinerary selected. Key West is a sunny destination boasting golden beaches, balmy weather and fascinating sites of historical significance, such as the island's colonial "Old Town" and Duval Street.

Castaway Cay, a private Bahamian island reserved exclusively for Disney Guests, boasts dining, beach recreation and other invigorating activities—with a dash of Disney magic for the entire family—on an island designed as a carefree "castaway" community.

Day 3

Monday is a sea day, which means it's the perfect time for you to experience the vast array of activities, games, live shows and dining venues the ship has to offer. Families will surely want to partake in the fun at Studio Sea, while kids can connect at Disney's Oceaneer Lab. Adults may opt for a massage at the Vista Spa & Salon, and everybody can come together for a Broadway-caliber show, like The Golden Mickeys, in the evening.

Day 4 and Day 5

Drop anchor in sunny Grand Cayman or Cozumel on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on itinerary. Grand Cayman in the British West Indies reveals a world of luxury shopping at bargain prices in Bodden Town plus long stretches of golden shoreline at Seven Mile Beach. Cozumel boasts archaeological wonders at Xcaret Eco Archeological Park—where ancient Mayan ruins mingle with scenic gardens—and endless sun, sand and surf at stunning Playa Mia Beach.

Day 6

Enjoy one final day at sea on Thursday, where you and your entire family can discover anything you may have missed onboard since your cruise began, such as the fine northern Italian cuisine of Palo, or the vast number of nightclubs and lounges located onboard.

Day 7

Arrive at Disney's private island paradise in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, on Friday. Reserved for Disney Cruise Line Guests, the island offers golden beaches for sunning and swimming. Various activities for everyone in the family—including snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, biking, spa services and Character Greetings—are sure to make this the highlight of your cruise vacation.

Day 8 – Disembarkation Day

Arrive back in sunny Port Canaveral on Friday, content in the vacation memories that can only be had aboard a Disney cruise ship, where exquisite dining, unique entertainment and recreation, and legendary service seamlessly come together to create a family getaway unlike any other.

Hotel eerste nacht voor cruise geboekt (15-01-2011)

Langzaam vallen de puzzelstukjes in elkaar.De eerste nacht voordat we op de Disney Cruiseline stappen is geboekt.We blijven in het Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral met als grote voordeel dat onze auto daar de hele week gratis mag blijven staan als wij op ons bootje zitten.Het hotel ziet er netjes uit en met een beetje mazzel kunnen we met nog een baantje trekken in het leuke zwembad.We vertrekken in ieder geval op 29 april vanuit Brussel en komen rond 17:00 plaatselijke tijd aan in Orlando.Als we de auto hebben is de eerste bestemming Carrabba's (beste Italiaanse restaurant, http://www.carrabbas.com/) en na misschien een I-pad aangeschaft te hebben reizen we s'avonds gelijk door naar dit hotel om de 30ste in te schepen op onze Western Carribean Cruise.

Wat ... gaan jullie cruisen ?!?

Dat was de eerste reactie van veel mensen om ons heen.Nu wil ik ook wel meteen uitleggen waarom.
Ik (Anne) heb heel snel last van motionsickness. Ik kan niet snorkelen, niet op een luchtbedje in het water dobberen. Word al zeeziek als ik alleen nog maar naar de golven kijk! Dus jullie begrijpen de reactie.
Toch is er een knop omgegaan.Vrienden die ook niet echt tegen varen kunnen hebben de Disney Cruiseline gedaan zonder ziek te worden.De enige manier om er achter te komen is door het te doen.

Dus nadat we een hint van een vriend van ons kregen zijn we toch eens gaan kijken op de site van de Disney Cruiseline.Wat ons verbaasde was het enorme prijsverschil in de mei vakantie t.o.v. zomer.
Dus in eerste instantie hadden we gekozen voor de 3-daagse Carribean Cruise.Echter, deze viel midden in onze vakantie en we kregen ons verblijf en planning er niet echt op aangepast.Na heel wat uurtjes te speuren op het web hebben we besloten om de 7-daagse Carribean te gaan doen.Dit omdat deze de eerste dag na aankomst in Orlando al vertrekt en als we het willen doen moeten we het gelijk maar goed doen.Dit is trouwens John zijn motto :0)
Dus onze vakantie kreeg al enige vorm.Nu nog de andere week plannen.
Normaal huren wij altijd een villa voor minimaal 3 weken.Maar nu hebben we "maar" 2 weken en moeten selectief zijn.We hebben besloten om een condo te huren in Windsor Palms (Kissimmee).
Een wijk die naast de wijk ligt waar we de laatste twee jaar zijn geweest dus de weg kennen we daar op ons duimpje.FF wachten op de autoprijzen en de eerste nacht  boeken en het aftellen kan beginnen.Wat een heerlijk vooruitzicht !
